Tired of Guessing About Hip Pain? Here’s what to do next

We’ve now covered what’s inside your hip, how to test it at home, and the exercises we use most with patients. For some of you, that was enough. Your hips feel looser, your squat is deeper, and the retest came back green. Keep it up.

This post is for everyone else: the people who did the work and still aren’t where they want to be.

Signs Exercises Alone Aren’t Going to Fix It

  • You retested after 3–4 weeks and nothing changed.
  • You scored red on any of the tests.
  • The pain gets worse with exercise instead of better.
  • Your pain shows up in more than one place, like the hip, low back, and knee.
  • You’ve already tried PT, chiropractic, massage, or YouTube routines and got only temporary relief.

If any of those sound familiar, it doesn’t mean you’re broken or that you did something wrong. It means the real cause hasn’t been found yet.

Why So Many Treatments Don’t Stick

Most people who come to us have already tried something.

Insurance-Based Physical Therapy

Insurance-based PT often means short appointments, much of the time spent with an aide, and the same sheet of stretches every visit no matter how you’re progressing. Many people are told to rest, and they lose fitness and confidence while they wait.

Chiropractic and Massage

Chiropractic and massage can feel great for a day or two. But if nobody addresses how you move under load, the pain comes back.

Rest and YouTube Exercises

Rest and online exercises may calm things down until you ramp your activity back up. Random exercises with no progression give you no way of knowing whether you’re solving the problem or just managing it.

The common thread: nobody actually watched you move, connected the dots, and built a plan around your goals.

Amber’s Story

Amber came to us at 45. She owns a business, stays active, and was tired of feeling “too young to feel this old.”

For more than two years she’d had pain in her back, hip, knee, and foot, and it had been getting worse for the past 6–12 months. She’d already tried PT through her medical provider, plus massage, acupuncture, Pilates, and YouTube exercises. Everything helped a little, and nothing lasted.

She’d started to wonder whether this was just how it was going to be. Every day she woke up in pain, and every day she couldn’t get in a good workout. Her biggest fear was that it would end in surgery, or with someone telling her “it’s just arthritis” or “it’s just age.”

Her full 60-minute evaluation changed things. For the first time, someone connected all her pain points into one clear explanation. From there, we built a step-by-step plan: we calmed the pain, corrected the root cause, and built strength so the problem wouldn’t come back.

Today Amber hikes, backpacks, paddleboards, plays pickleball, and lifts weights regularly, without worrying that every ache means she has to stop. She has a weekly routine that fits her life, and she knows what to do if something starts to flare.

How We Work: Calm, Correct, Conquer

Every patient goes through the same three phases, built around their body and goals.

1. Calm

We start with a full 60-minute, one-on-one evaluation with a physical therapist who looks at your whole body, not just the spot that hurts. We use VALD DynaMo and ForceDecks testing to measure strength and side-to-side differences precisely.

You start treatment on the first visit and leave knowing what’s driving your pain.

2. Correct

We fix the root cause with hands-on treatment, movement coaching, and a strength program built around your sport or activity. You won’t be told to just rest.

We modify your training so you stay active while you heal, and you’ll always know why you’re doing what you’re doing.

3. Conquer

Instead of stopping when the pain calms down, we build strength and capacity so you’re stronger than before. You leave with a plan to keep progressing and the confidence to push hard without fear.

Is This for You?

We work best with active adults who want to keep running, lifting, hiking, golfing, and playing for decades, and who are willing to put in the work when someone gives them a plan that makes sense.

If you’re looking for a quick fix without doing the exercises, we’re probably not the right fit. If you’re ready to stop guessing and get to the bottom of it, we’d love to talk.
